Intellectual Property Policy

Last updated:

Everything Woof Tee sells is built on two kinds of creative work: our own designs, and your photos of your own pets. This Intellectual Property Policy explains what belongs to us, what stays yours, what you may and may not do with content from wooftee.shop, what we will not print, and how to report a concern about trademarks, designs or other rights. For copyright notices in the DMCA format, see our DMCA page.

At a glance

  • The Woof Tee name, logo, site design, design layouts, text and product photos belong to Woof Tee or are used with permission.
  • Your pet photos stay yours. We use them only to print your order and delete them 30 days after delivery.
  • You are welcome to share links to our pages; please do not copy our content.
  • We do not print characters, team marks, brand logos or other artists’ work, even on request.
  • Report intellectual property concerns to support@wooftee.shop. We acknowledge every report within 24 hours on business days.

1. What belongs to Woof Tee

The following are owned by Woof Tee or used under licence or permission:

  • the name “Woof Tee” and the dog-ear logo, including the version of the logo with a dog peeking over the wordmark;
  • the design of wooftee.shop: its layout, colours, illustrations and page structure;
  • our design templates: the way a pet portrait, name and wording are arranged on a shirt, sweatshirt, hoodie or gift;
  • product photos, example images and mockups on our product and category pages;
  • the text of our product descriptions, category descriptions, guides, FAQs and policy pages.

Buying a product gives you ownership of that physical item. It does not transfer the rights in the design template, our logo or our website content.

2. What stays yours

Your pet photos, and any text you ask us to print, remain yours. When you personalise an item through the order notes at checkout, you give Woof Tee a limited permission to use the photo and text for one purpose: to print and deliver your order, and to handle any return, exchange or support question about it. We do not use your photos in advertising, on our site or on social media without asking you first and getting a clear yes. Customer photos are deleted 30 days after delivery, as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. What you may do with our content

  • View and print pages of wooftee.shop for your own personal, non-commercial use.
  • Share links to our product pages and collections by message, email or on social media.
  • Post photos of yourself and your pet wearing your Woof Tee item. We love seeing them, and you never need our permission to share your own photos.
  • Quote a short extract of our text in a review or article, with a link back to the original page.

4. What you may not do

  • Copy, republish or resell our product photos, design templates or descriptions, including on marketplaces, print-on-demand platforms or other online stores.
  • Use the Woof Tee name or logo, or anything confusingly similar, in a way that suggests you are us or connected with us.
  • Create products from our design templates, or buy our items to reproduce the designs for sale.
  • Scrape or bulk-download the site’s content with automated tools, other than normal search engine indexing.
  • Remove or alter any copyright or ownership notice on our content.

5. What we will not print

We print pets, names and short personal text. To respect other people’s rights, we do not print the following, even if a customer sends them:

Characters from films, TV, games or cartoonsAnimated film characters, comic heroes, video game mascotsProtected by copyright and trademark

If an order includes content like this, we contact you before printing. You can send a different photo or text, or cancel for a full refund.

6. Our designs are original

We create our own design templates and write our own descriptions. We do not copy other stores’ designs, product photos or wording. Breed-based and pet-portrait designs often share common ideas — a face in a circle, a name underneath, a paw print — and nobody owns those ideas. What we avoid is copying the specific way someone else has expressed them.

7. Our trademarks

“Woof Tee” and our logo identify our store and our products. Please do not use them in domain names, social media handles, ads or product listings in a way that could make people think you are Woof Tee or are endorsed by us. Fan posts, reviews and honest comparisons that mention us by name are fine.

8. How to report an intellectual property concern

If you believe something on wooftee.shop, or a product we have made, infringes your trademark, design or other intellectual property right, email support@wooftee.shop with the subject line “IP concern” and include:

  1. your name, contact details and relationship to the rights owner;
  2. the right you believe is infringed, for example a trademark registration number and country, or a description of your design;
  3. the URL of each page or product concerned, or a photo of a printed item;
  4. a short explanation of why you believe it infringes;
  5. a statement that the information you provide is accurate and that you are the rights owner or authorised to act for them.

For copyright specifically, please use the format on our DMCA page.

9. What happens next

We acknowledge every report within 24 hours on business days. We review the material and, if we agree there is a problem, remove it, stop selling the product or stop printing the content. If we need more information, we ask. If we disagree, we explain why. Where a report concerns content a customer asked us to print, we inform that customer and give them a chance to respond.

10. Ideas and suggestions

We love hearing design ideas from customers: a breed we should feature, a phrase every cat person says, a garment colour you wish we had. If you send us an idea, you agree we may use it without obligation to you, and we will not claim it is confidential. If your idea is something you want to protect, please do not send it.

11. Questions customers ask about rights

Can I post my Woof Tee shirt on social media?

Absolutely. Photos you take of yourself, your pet and your shirt are yours. Tagging us is optional.

Can I sell shirts with my own dog’s face that I bought from you?

The items you buy are yours to use, give or resell second-hand. What you may not do is reproduce our design templates to make and sell new products.

Can you print my dog in the style of a famous cartoon?

No. Styles that copy a specific studio’s characters or artwork are protected, so we keep to our own design templates.

12. Pet names, breeds and common phrases

People sometimes ask whether a pet’s name or a common phrase can be “owned”. In general, everyday words, breed names and short phrases that many dog and cat people use — “Dog Mom”, “Cat Dad”, “Good Boy”, “Fur Baby”, “Gotcha Day” — are part of ordinary language, and we use them freely in our designs. A phrase can, however, be registered as a trademark for clothing in some countries. If we learn that a phrase we use is a registered mark owned by someone else, we stop using it in that way. If you are a rights owner and believe one of our phrase designs uses your registered mark, please report it as described in section 8.

Your pet’s name is yours to have printed. Names of famous animals, celebrities or fictional characters are different: we do not print a well-known character’s name paired with that character’s look, because that combination points to someone else’s property rather than to your pet.

13. Memorial and tribute designs

Many customers order a shirt to remember a pet who has died. Memorial designs follow the same rules as every other order: the photo should be one you took or have permission to use, and the text should be your own. If the only good photo of your late pet was taken by a professional photographer, ask them whether you can use it for a personal shirt; many photographers say yes to a request like this. If you cannot reach the photographer, send us a different photo, even an imperfect phone snapshot, and tell us about any detail you want us to pay attention to, such as a white patch on the chest or one floppy ear.

14. How this policy fits with our other pages

This page sets out ownership and rights. How we handle your personal information, including your pet photos, is described in our Privacy Policy. The rules for personalising an order, including the promises you make about photos you send, are in our Terms of Service. Copyright takedown notices follow the format on our DMCA page. If anything on these pages seems to conflict, email us and we will clarify it.

15. Product photos and example mockups

The images on our product pages show how a design looks on a garment or gift. Some are photographs of real printed items; others are example mockups prepared to show placement, colours and proportions. Either way, they belong to Woof Tee or are used with permission, and they may not be reused by other stores. If you are a supplier, photographer or model whose work appears on our site and you have a question about how it is used, email us and we will check the permission we have.

Because every printed item carries the customer’s own pet, an example image shows the design, not your final shirt. The pet, the name and the exact crop of your item come from your order notes and your photo.
